Big Buck Hunting Camp is a 4,300 acre Hunt Camp for outdoor learning activities located at Jefferson Proving Ground South (JPGS)
Outdoor Ed
Big Buck Boot Camp is blessed with an incredible deer and turkey population. This wild game population, along with our access roads and extensive outdoor ed management program, assures multiple opportunities to see wildlife and harvest game. The 4,300 acre outdoor ed camp property is extensively managed for wildlife and designed for easy accessibility for all.
JPGS features 1,200 acres of tillable crop land and 2,800 acres of wooded outdoor education activities in 10 sections of fascinating terrain. There are 13.2 miles of perimeter fence and 43 miles of interior roads. We accomplish our outdoor ed mission by proudly showcasing 125 acres of managed wildlife food plots, over 75+ tree stands and shooting houses (many of which are accessible to persons with limited mobility), 30+ deer and turkey feeders, approximately 100 mineral sites, and 24+ deer cameras.
Outdoor Education Programs
The big buck hunting and fishing camp features outdoor education programs with a fully accessible log cabin with all the modern conveniences. The cabin comfortably sleeps 6 and is complete with a full kitchen, washer and dryer, and handicap accessible restroom and shower. Outside, the cabin has a covered porch and fire pit for relaxing. There is a hanging rack for dressing deer, with hot and cold running water, all in a wooded and shaded outdoor learning activities setting.
Hunts are fully guided and safe. Our outdoor education programs provide everything from license, overnight accommodations, food, transport vehicles, stands, field-dressing game, check-in, game processing, game mounts, guns and ammo, crossbows, pictures, and transportation to and from camp, if needed. Our outdoor education activities guest will get an outdoor sporting experience that is second to none whether you're big buck hunting, fishing in the Ohio River or shooting at our outdoor shooting ranges or camping. You will experience nature while participating in a full range of activities and programs that are unparalleled. We have special transport vehicles, stands, blinds, and adaptive equipment for those who have accessibility requirements.
